In House of Light, the new expansion for Book of Hours, you’re thrown into the creepy world of 1937 Europe, where not only is regular war about to kick off, but there’s some mystical war brewing in the Sun, too. As the Librarian of Hush House, you’re in the middle of it all, trying to guide a bunch of occult big shots through dangerous decisions. They’re gonna need your help with secret alliances, insanely powerful weapons, and forbidden knowledge to survive what’s about to go down. Every choice you make affects more than just your library it sends shockwaves through the whole world, and might even decide the fate of the mysterious Lighthouse Institute.
One of the coolest parts of House of Light is hosting these fancy social events that bring the occult elite together. You’ll be throwing dinner parties in wild locations like the Hall of Division or the Chapter House. It’s not just about what you serve it’s about who you invite, what vibe you set, and how you make people click (or clash). Get the right mix of people talking, and you could totally change how things play out in the shadowy world of secret societies. But to pull off these killer parties, you’ve gotta get creative in the kitchen. 1930s European cuisine? Yeah it’s as weird and dangerous as it sounds. You’ll be cooking up stuff like Mushroom Meringue or Sea-Pie to either impress or freak out your guests. Serving something sweet like Poires Belle Hélène or Deep Sweetened Assam might help smooth over tensions, but every dish you serve is a chance to push your guests one way or the other. It’s like food-based manipulation get it right, and you could steer their loyalties however you want.
On top of all the parties and fancy dinners you’ll get to dive deep into the personal stories of your visitors. The game’s got these sick new mechanics that let you dig up all the juicy secrets and figure out how the characters are connected. Whether you’re solving mysteries like the Oriflamme Heist or figuring out what’s going on between Rowena, Yvette, and Ys, you’re pulling the strings behind the scenes. And at the end of it all, you’ll be the one deciding who gets to be part of the Lighthouse Institute and shape its future meaning you’ve got a huge say in what happens to the entire occult world.
